Small Things: My Morning Coffee Delivery

Diamond rings, fancy houses, fast cars, fresh cut flowers?

You can keep all that shiny stuff.

He brings me coffee every morning. Every single morning. Hot, strong, perfect coffee.

Even when we’re camping.

It’s the thing I miss most when I’m away. Winky-eyed and warm at 5 in the morning, the entire day stretched out like a promise. Five minutes to talk about our plans or bore each other with inadequate descriptions of the previous night’s dreams.

It’s the small things.

Mark does the same thing for me. I think he realized that coffee makes me happier than any ring/flowers/gifts. I know its special, and I wouldnt trade it for the world.

Cute. For some of us those small things are big things and, well the big things are mere trinkets.

  5. I’ve brought my wife Carolyn coffee in bed for 26 years because I can’t imagine living in a world where I don’t bring her coffee in bed.
We also split a bottle of prosecco every Sunday afternoon in the bathtub and we talk about growing old together because we’re sitting in a bathtub without any clothes on and we’re old and talking about it over a bottle of prosecco seems to take a few of the years away.
