Don’t Miss this Pro-Cycling Blog
I keep a peripheral eye on the pro cycling scene these days, regarding the men of the pedals as impossible giants in a world much larger than I can stomach. When I read that Hincapie (or whoever) averaged 340 watts for 4 hours, it’s incomprehensible to me. They exist in a universe so far away that I can’t even wrap my head around how fast they are, so I tend to ignore them for the most part, focusing instead on the everyday achievements of regular people on regular bikes in regular races.
It’s not as sexy, maybe, but it’s more accessible – and, therefore, more inspiring to me.
Watching Pettachi win an inconceivable sprint? Mind boggling, beautiful, poetic, fantastic.
Watching my friend Lindsay Kandra battle her way into a fitness that no one could have ever imagined? Motivational. Inspiring. Emotional. Mind-blowing.
You see my point.
Even still, when I want a little PRO love, I often turn to Cyclocosm. It’s a smart, well-written blog with the kind of humor and insight that you miss in VeloNews or CyclingNews. And the “How the race was won” video series is 10 light-years beyond rad.
You’re probably already all over this, but just in case you aren’t, here’s an example.
